City Of London Studio

In August of 1965 The Who attempted their first recordings of 'My Generation' at the historically obscure City Of London Studio. According to Pete Townshend these sessions were used by the band's Manager, Kit Lambert, to practise his production techniques.

In his book about The Who, 'Anyway Anyhow Anywhere', Matt Kent locates the studio at 9 - 12 Osborn Street, in the Whitechapel area of London. The studio was very small and only equipped to record in mono.

Unfortunately I can't find any further info or pictures of the studio, but I have found pictures of the two businesses now occupying the address, The Lane (a restaurant) and The City Hotel.

The City Of London Studio was located at 9 - 12 Osborn Street, Aldgate East. The nearest tube station is Aldgate East.
